Electrostatic In-Mold Decorating
In the in-mold decorating process, a label is placed directly into the
mold. A static charge is then applied to keep the label in position during
the molding process.
MKS, Ion Industrials new lightweight charging system features a charging
generator weighing just over 2 lb and charging bars measuring 1.5" x 0.75"
in the cross-section or miniature charging heads. This compact charging
system provides consistent pinning power regardless of changes in ambient
conditions or variations in the label properties, and is small enough to
mount directly on the robotic arm. The model 7020 charging generator
delivers a lot of power with 20,000 volt output at a 1.5 mA charging
current. The 7401 charging bar comes in various lengths starting at 3
inches effective length. The 7602 charging head with its compact design can
mount close to the label providing the most accurate placement of the
label.
